Episode #072 – Brutally Optimistic

It’s our shortest episode in a very long time, at just 1 hour and 20 minutes! Why so short? Because in 3 days we’re posting another SPECIAL episode (remember the Transformers & Muppets specials?) which is likely going to be very LOOONG. Also, our lives are going to be so busy in the coming few weeks, that we might not get a chance to record another episode until after the election. So we wanted to make sure we could squeeze in at least one more regular episode while we had the chance, so we could do our usual segments like News of the Stupid, and play some spooky music for Halloween by Grant Baciocco, TV’s Kyle, Insane Clown Posse, and an ‘Odd New Wave’ classic by Rockwell. Also, Luke recaps Archon, and Carrie tells the scary tale of “The Baby That Wouldn’t Stop Growing!” It crawls! It sprouts teeth! It sits up on it’s own! Run while you still can!!!

Episode length: 1:20:13

  1. Listening to the very beginning of the show where you’re talking about the eeeevil Dream Josh or D. J.. All I can think of is Cecil from Beany and Cecil screaming what he frequently screams at the show’s villain, DIshonest John, “D.J. YOU DIRTY GUY!!”

  2. No new episode until after the election? But I was so looking forwards to the Live Bad Rapport Election Night Heckling Special!

  3. I am glad to hear you had the surigcal procedure for Alex. It is much better to get it done as an infant before he can remember it especially if it can make his life easier in the future.

Thanks for the mention about my father. He was 85. Official cause of death is cancer of unkown primary origin.

From late July until two weeks ago, except for Gencon, my personal life was dealing with him and my mother who a month later is still dealing with details.

  4. Carrie,
A friend recommended the Lemony Snicket audio books to me, which are read by Tim Curry. The author (Daniel Handler) actually reads books 3 thru 5, but then re-enlisted Tim to finish the rest. I like Tim Curry’s interpretation much better, of course.
There are also songs by Daniel Handler’s band, the Gothic Archies. Fortunately a nearby library has the whole series, and I’ve listened to the first 6, and plan to hear the rest when I have some time. It might be possible, with today’s technology, to make these available to you, if you’re interested.

  5. Carrie,
Resist the urge to watch the Series of Unfortunate Events movie! I am a big fan of the books, but the movie is … lacking. Jim Carrey doesn’t do a bad Count Olaf, but neither the story line nor the other characters do any justice to the books.
