Episode #032 – The Cuddle Vortex

Amazingly, this episode is a short one at only just over an hour and a half. We’ve discovered that the secret to making short episodes is to go into them with virtually no content whatsoever. How little content you ask? In this episode we call Ken and ask him to update us on the NFL Playoffs. Seriously. We did. Then we paused the podcast so we could watch clips of the 90’s sitcom “Herman’s Head” so we could discuss it on the air. You think I’m lying for comedic effect, but I’m totally not. There’s a song based on one of last week’s News of the Stupid stories by Possible Oscar, as well as songs by the awesome Mike Phirman, the Beastie Boys, and Rebecca Drysdale. Also in this episode we discuss the formation of a league of awesome character actors, and Carrie recounts her magical trip to the Five Star Indoor Swap Mart. We hope you’ll find this episode satisfyingly electrifiable.

  1. Luke, I got the name for your actor superteam. The League of That Guys. As in for most people the reaction to an appearance in a film by them is “Hey, it’s that guy!”

And if that idea is stupid, in my defense it’s 3:39 AM in the morning as I write this.

  2. Oh by the gods, did I actually write “3:39 AM in the morning”? Huh. Well, I’m nothing if not redundant. I also repeat myself.

  3. Luke, “Boomin’ Granny” was originally released on the “Jimmy James” CD single back in 1992. If you didn’t buy Beastie Boys singles, I’m not surprised you missed the song.

  4. HANK AZARIA voices on the Simpsons: Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Moe Szyslak, Chief Clancy Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, Lou, Carl, Dr. Nick Riviera, Snake, Kirk Van Houten, Captain McCallister, Bumblebee Man, Superintendent Chalmers, Professor Frink, Cletus, Dredrick Tatum

  5. Steve Buscemi is my favorite of “That guy’s”! (nice name arkle). I fell in love with him in Con Air. “Define Irony: A bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.”
I also love the Ted/Sam Raimi stuff. My favorite Raimi movie is Lunitics (A love story) and my favorite of his series is Seaquest. Erick Avari is another for that list.

  6. I will totally pay for a background track as long as it’s the freaking Red Dwarf song! Been waiting 14 years for that damn song that should have been on Fanboys in the Hood or Shadows of the Bunghole(look, i got titles right!)

  7. Haven’t listened yet, but just realized listening to “Geeks Come Out At Night” again recently.

Next time “Room 1327” gets referenced in a FuMP song, Luke Ski needs to chant “I’m a married spud, I’m a married spud!” (Toy Story 2 reference).
