Episode #047 – Ignorance Is The Whole Show

The first half of this episode was recorded at Luke’s merch table at the Can’t Stop The Serenity event at the Portage Theatre in Chicago last weekend, where we met our new friend, Dr. Allison, shown here with the chibi art Luke drew for her as a reward for being the person who was the most excited to see Luke & Carrie at the event. In this episode we discuss who Luke is the boss of (nobody), and Carrie tells of her exhaustive training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We also have News of the Stupid, and comedy tracks by Cirque du So What, The Lonely Island, The Muppets, and Matt Nathanson covering the Muppets. Yes, Bad Rapport, where the enthasis is on correct spelling and word usage, basically.

  1. Wow, I actually remember The Brothers Grunt on MTV years ago. Thanks for bringing up that weird memory, Luke. I also approve of the nickname for Carrie’s baby being “Lawrence Avenue” just like Steve Crist has the nickname “Optimus Prime Box”. I realize this may result in me being mercilessly beaten by Carrie’s dainty hand the next time she sees me but I will have to endure that for the idea to live on.

  2. I’m not sure if it was something wrong with the file, or if Luke just forgot to put them in, but I didn’t hear any of the voicemails on this episode, just the website comments.

  3. I will have you know that you caused my boss to give me a strange look at work today. I am always using the “plug in!” line when I hear a song that is too slow, and laughed when I heard Wild Thing begin.

  4. Carrie, your story about the Wiccan-looking baby doc reminded me of my daughter’s paediatrician. Both my wife and I thought she looked very much like what we imagined Professor Trelawney in the Harry Potter books would have looked like, but in no way dishevelled. Surprisingly, we are both very comforted by that. I suspect anything to do with babies attracts a special sort of medical professional – doctor, nurse, otherwise.

  5. I suppose I could clarify and say that at MarsCon, I said I was from Madison because that’s where I live, but I grew up in Seattle, so I’m from there also. So you’re remembering things correctly. I guess I could have mentioned that in my comment on the last episode (a long time ago, I know), but I like confusing people.
