Wow, less than a minute short of our longest episode ever. Good thing it’s chock full of songs sung by Neil Patrick Harris. YES, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS! Carrie reports on ConFusion, Luke reports on VisionCon, Luke tells us the story of when he met Jay Leno (for the record, we’re with Coco), we discuss more obscure TV shows and songs, and we tell the little kids of irresponsible parents to GET OFF OF THE TABLE!!!

I am so with you on NBC. I can remember a time when nearly every single day I’d have one or more programs on NBC to watch, to the point where I’d actually have to worry about running out of space on the VHS tapes I used to record programs while I was at school or work. Now? Heroes and Law & Order SVU. Well, if you expand the definition of NBC to include the networks owned by the same parent company it’s a bit more than just those two; Keith and Rachel on MSNBC, Stargate Universe and Caprica on SyFy, and Psych on USA. But still, NBC just does not have the quality of shows it used to have, and this whole Jay/Conan mess is just the very public face of the lame behind the scenes decisions they’ve been making for years, por ejemplo turning Third Watch from a character driven show into an action show.
The mean spirited, unfunny “joke” made at the expense of Ken was NOT Carrie approved. More like, Carrie forgot to make Luke remove it before publishing.
Still in the middle of the episode, but I remember the “Puttin’ on the…” show. I thought it was “Puttin’ on the Lips” though as it was lip syncing. They had some pretty cool guys doing belly button lip syncing occasionally. I always thought the show was in the vein of the Gong Show.
And someone should get Carrie a cough drop before she starts off the show. She sounds like a New Jersey comedy rapper.
To my ear, I sound more like a new Jersey comedy rapper, and Carrie sounds more like a 6 foot tall, long haired Rochester synth punker.
Ed Lover’s song was “The 900 Number” by Funkmaster Flex & Mark The 45 King.
I also remember “Puttin’ on the Hits”. It was a pretty big deal in these parts. I remember both of the acts you mentioned.
I do remember “Puttin’ On The Hits”, but I had suppressed it..until now. Also, “Small Wonder”. Thanks for bringing back the ’80s…and making me so glad they ended.
You can’t be a true NPH fan without mentioning his appearance on the 2004 Broadway cast recording of Sondheim’s “Assassins”, in which he plays Lee Harvey Oswald. In the end scene, he is convinced by John Wilkes Booth’s ghost that it’s important to history that he kill President Kennedy. Lots of happy, bouncy music. Seriously.
LOL…Loved the ‘intro’ Very effin funny! Great episode guys!
I do remember Small Wonder. That was a great acting job by “Vicki” to be so robotic. Most roles want kids to loosen up.
I’m just wondering how we can be less bombastic in our comments. I enjoyed the episode a lot and look forward to the episode when you can finally talk about last weekend, which by the point you can talk about it will not be relevant anymore so… OPPORTUNITY LOST! Mwahahaha… I feel so out of the loop.
Oh, I forgot the whole reason I started my last comment. I’m stupid. You’re smart. I was wrong. You were right. You’re the best. I’m the worst. You’re very good looking. I’m not attractive. It was called Puttin’ on the Hits.
A guy dancing with puppets on poles… I can only think of “The Amazing Christopher” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6LRR7VEFPk

His best quote: “This has been my day job for 23 years. So what do YOU do?”
(I’m drawing a blank on the rest though)
Luke I remember the show FTV in the mid 80’s. There was this one character that was a parody of Tina Turner called Tina Turn-on. As for Putting on the Hits that was the show that introduced the world to Sinbad because he used to be a Judge on that show. I also remember a guy named Houston that would be one half Lionel Richie and one half Diana Ross.
Hey luke and Carry and Devo and mr soggy chips gret show. the phone message I gave you was what cartoons from disney (movie or old TV) would you like to see in a future Kingdom Hearts (PS2/DS/PSP) game. go to http://www.khunion.net for info on the series.
great show, but not enough burping. I mentioned on my phone post Kingdom Hearts a game on the playstation 2, GBA, and DS with one for the psp soon. I asked which cartoons you’d like to see in them use as worlds for the game. whether its tv( IE gargoyles, Darkwing Duck, Bonkers, etc.) or movies ( Phantasia, Princess and the frog, toy story, etc.) the series has been out since ’01 also see if you remember this HB series from the 80’s: Thundarr the Barbarian. little side note HB made, but not HB cartoon Tom and Jerry. the intro for the old cartoons list the creators as Joseph Hanna and Fred Barberra (sp.?)
err William Barberra. Sorry.
sorry on the double post. used my PS3 to send it,and had to refresh page to see posts.

Thundarr was a great cartoon series…equal parts rip-off of Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, and Conan. Created by the greatest comic book artist who ever lived, Jack Kirby…who created (or “co-created”) almost every major Marvel character of the 1960s.
Hi Luke & Carrie,
I’ve been enjoying Bad Rapport. A couple of comments…
I too watched “Puttin’ on the Hits”… yikes, I was entertained by pretty much anything back then…
Not many of the show’s lip sync acts stand out in my memory… but I do recall a guy who did “Say Say Say.” As he sang the Paul McCartney lines, he stood so you could only see his left side. Then for the Michael Jackson part, suddenly he spun around, to reveal that his right side was dressed like Michael Jackson — complete with face paint! It was like half a minstrel show.
My high school had its own annual lip sync contest, and a couple of kids perfectly replicated the Paul Simon/Chevy Chase “You Can Call Me Al” video. Later they auditioned to appear on “Puttin’ on the Hits” with this act. But alas, apparently they didn’t make the cut…
By the way, I went to a Patton Oswalt show in Boston last week. When it was time to work the crowd, everyone Patton talked to was quite boring. Patton even admitted, “In working the crowd tonight, I’m 0-for-3!” He still made it funny, but was clearly having a tough time since the crowd gave him so little to work with. I’m sure he really appreciated your contribution to the Chicago show.
If Patton had called on me, I was planning to tell him I was a caricature artist named Luke. But we were way in the back, so that didn’t happen…
Have fun at MarsCon — wish I could see you there…

So, the first comment I made, I stressed out about, hoping you wouldn’t screen it. They didn’t. Then I wrote in again, assuming you wouldn’t screen it. And you didn’t read any e-mailz. Now by the time you read this comment your website won’t even sow the full thi
