Fact: I learned more about how to animate from Kyle Carrozza in one afternoon than I learned in my 4 years at an expensive fine arts college in Kansas City.
This epic 4 HOUR, 18 MINUTE LONG episode of Bad Rapport chronicles my recent trip to the Los Angeles area to mow the lawn of my Kickstarter super-donor Bob “Number 11” Mathews at his birthday party, where I also did a house concert with the aforementioned TV’s Kyle and his bubbly long-time girlfriend Lindsay Smith, who also put me up at their place in Burbank for the majority of the trip. The three of us also collaborated on this episode’s artwork.
Those of you who have an aversion to long episodes, fear not, for I have edited this episode so that our talk segments only last 15 to 20 minutes each, followed by a 4-minute-ish music break, so that my droning on and on doesn’t get too tedious. This episode’s comedy tracks are by MC Skat Kat, Ookla The Mok, Game Grumps, Eric Houg, Craig Ferguson, Engine Sentai Go-onger, Jonathan Coulton, Garfunkel & Oates, Gilbert Gottfried, Rob Cantor, Tony Goldmark, Tally Hall, T.J. Miller, and John Lithgow.
So prepare to take a vacation to sunny L.A. in the theatre of your mind, and if you haven’t already, please donate to the “Under The Smogberry Trees” Kickstarter before it ends on May 4th, so that there can finally be a feature length documentary about Dr. Demento!

The Japanese toy shop Luke and Kyle went to sounds like a lot of fun. I also have been looking forward and wanting that Disney Robot combiner since they announced it.
For those who may want to know what it is, it’s listed on Amazon – http://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Tamashii-Nations-Friends-Chogokin/dp/B009YP2L7W
As for a potential Anime based on this concept, I would love to see that. The only question would be, how would Pluto drive a giant robot since, unlike Goofy, Pluto doesn’t have anthropomorphic hands?
What?! No mariachi band caricature link?
If this works, here’s the Mariachi band caricature:
I am just starting to listen, and really liking the 20-30 minute talking segment formation. Given that I listen at work where I have LOTS of interruptions, and need to listen across multiple days, this is making it much easier to hear the show in segments.
I’d love to see that game Kyle was talking about, that fighting game with all the failed attempts to be the next Mario or Sonic. I wonder if it’d be possible to get a Kickstarter going to buy the rights…
So much fun stuff in this ep. I should have taken notes like I ususally do so I can comment on the stuff I wanted to mention that happened, but I didn’t. I do remember that I had trouble hearing Luke in the diner sequences where he was commenting on the JonTron remixes and requesting one be made of Bad Rapport and thinking maybe the reason one hasn’t been yet is because of the audio quality needed for sampling…such as the one found in that sequence. However, I do agree something like that would be pretty cool.
As for eveything else…well, i guess I’m honored you guys mentioned me as much as you did. I feel that Lindsay is a suitable replacement for me in SP, and I look forward to forming my solo SP tribute band in the near future.
Also, Carrie’s daiper song has killed me with cute.
Dead,

Band nerd says, “That’s not a tuba, that’s a sousaphone!”
I noticed a few segments were in one channel only. For example, the segment with Carrie at the end was only in the left channel. Loved the duet at the end. Great episode with Kyle and other surprise guest (no spoilers in the comments). I can’t wait to see the animations you come up with after the lessons from Kyle.
Like Ian, I’m flattered — I think — that you guys mentioned me so much. Thank you for feeding my ego. Unlike Ian, I did take notes, but don’t worry, there’s not too many.
First, I thought I was pretty calm about the cartoon … this month. One reminder when Luke departed and another a few days later when I actually started on the newsletter.
Second, for anyone interested in making an extended Kyle jam, I *can* tell you all the FuMPcast episodes Kyle was on and when the Feedback segment started in each episode. But I’ll leave it up to you to go through them and see if Kyle sings along or not.
Third, I’m still using my Donkey Kong patterns from the ’80s. Unfortunately, I can rarely conquer the jumping jacks screen the third time it comes around. I know what needs to be done, I simply lack
the skill to do it.
Finally, no, I won’t keep stats for Bad Rapport, so quit waving your hand at me, Kyle. What, you think you’re some kind of Jedi or something?
The site ate my fake HTML tags. That last bit should have read, “Finally, <Watto voice>no, I won’t keep stats for Bad Rapport, so quit waving your hand at me, Kyle. What, you think you’re some kind of Jedi or something?</Watto voice>
What is the name of that rock opera that is bad?
It is awesome that Kyle and Lindsay are able to help fellow music artists who visit the Los Angeles area.
The mariachi band story is the best charicature one I have heard. Thanks for posting the drawing. It looks great.
Hopefully someone with the ability to do it well can mix various catch phrases into a track.
I wonder if Craig Ferguson will do something special with the pantamine horse Secretariat over the next 4-6 weeks since this is the 40 year anniversary of Secretariat’s record setting times (and still unbeaten) in its win of the triple crown in May and early June.
The last interview did rekindle old memories including my honeymoon in Disneyworld where Alien Encounter (a ride I could not stop laughing while on) scared someone to the point of being unable to walk afterward. I’m just glad it happened 14 years and 65lb ago so I did not need help. The song after also fit as that was our next ride.
I was very happy (and a little proud) that my daughter told me she hated the It’s a Small World ride finding the dolls creepy but it made me feel old when I had to explain to her what “Kodaks” meant.
Please ignore my comment about some segments being in only one channel. Turns out it was my headphones causing the problem, not the file. *embarrassed*
Luke,
Early on in the fump cast’s existance i was going through and grabbing sound bites to make a cool remix for you guys. but i never had the time to finish. oh the projects that would be done if there were 10 of me.
The free drink refills were my favorite part.
