This episode is short for us at just under 90 minutes. So it has that going for it. Also going for it is the presence of Ken, Josh, Sara, and Jered. It was recorded in the restaurant at Dave & Buster’s, so expect a loud continuous ambient noise level as Luke scrapes the bottom of his mental barrel for content nuggets to fill this episode. On that note, this episode has double the number of tracks in it, featuring The State, The Lonely Island, Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert with Jimmy Fallon, Maria Bamford, Aziz Ansari, The Bermuda Schwartz Project and more. Also, I kicked Josh’s ass at table hockey.

Not zero: it was a reference to The Fifth Element.
I misunderstood earlier. I thought the topic of forced parodies applied to the songs in general, not just the titles. I’d meant that I thought the lyrics to Spock Star came across as forced, not the title. Just my opinion though, and let’s face it, my opinion does not carry much weight on the Interwebs anymore since I made it public that I actually really liked the movie Southland Tales. I’ve gotten threats of violence for saying that. No, really. I had one guy say he would punch me in the junk if I kept defending the movie. 🙁
Sorry Jared, if you don’t elaborate more on “Not Zero”, I’ll have to re-watch the whole movie again (not that that would be a bad thing). I’m a meat-popsicle with a mull-tea-pass.
I thought it was funny that I actually know two girls with names you mentioned. Emerson is a sweet little 1 year old girl that goes by ‘Emmy’, and I’ve known a Carlin (maybe she spells it Carlyn?) long that I haven’t even thought of it as being strange. But then again, I named my oldest child Taliesin (you can hear the proper pronunciation at http://www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/taliesin), so I’m probably not the best person to ask about strange names.
So I suppose that Carrie and Josh’s presentation of the popsicle jokes would be their popsicle schtick?
Luke and Carrie, congratulations! Episode 38 is the very 1st episode in which you don’t mention me in any way! I’ve even been avoiding commenting just to see how long it would take for this to happen and it’s been quite awhile. Carrie did make a Pod of Destiny reference, but that’s as close as you got. Of course by leaving this comment I’ve now broken the streak. oh well. hurray for me noticing things that deal with me!
So, when are you going to have a parody-writing contest? Let someone else put words into your funny mouth. “Make Luke Ski’s FuMP,” anyone?
Not a bad idea Computer King, though I think that Carrie would be a better fit for the Sylar song I mentioned in my last phone call.
