  1. My favorite costume as a kid would have to be my TNG era Starfleet uniform. Not proud of the pictures my Mom has of me in it though. I was going for serious and dignified, but looked whiny and constipated.

Sadly I haven’t really done the costume thing in years. A few years ago I got a cheap Roman senatorial robe and an equally cheap Incredible Hulk mask from the supermarket across the street and handed out candy to trick or treaters as Senator Hulk, but that’s really been it in terms of my now 12 year long adult life. Not even sure where I got the Senator Hulk idea from to be honest. I don’t even cosplay at cons. Though if I had the money, I would totally dress up as a gender flipped version of Yomiko Readman, the protagonist from my favorite Anime series Read Or Die. I mean, all I’d really need to change is the bottom part from a skirt to pants. The rest of Yomiko’s outfit is fairly gender neutral already. I mean hey, every con I’ve gone to since 2008 I’ve seen multiple women dressed as one of The Doctors (Peter Davison, the 5th Doctor, seeming to be VERY popular with the ladies), why can’t I? Maybe next year.

  2. Either “Sunshine and Pickles” or “Be Abused By Me” should be the title of Carrie’s next album. (“Be Abused” was what I heard Carrie say when talking about Luke’s GHvol2).

And yes, I *do* want to know if I’m good too….why say it like that? HEAP PRAISE AND/OR CRITICISMS ON ME! FUEL/DEFLATE MY EGO!

Or, y’know…don’t. Whatever. If I’m becoming annoying about it, apologies. I’ll stop.

  3. Carrie, next time, please put Josh on speaker phone so we can hear both sides of that interesting conversation 🙂

  4. Also, way to go, Luke, on finding a Halloween appropriate song I had not heard anyone else play this month (With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm). Given the number of people who played Halloween music this year, that takes some doing! Helps that I love the song as well.

  5. Chiming in on the “I would have been named” discussion, if I’d been a boy, I would have been named Andrew. My parents apparently decided not to use that name for my younger brother. But they did choose the name Andrea for if he’d been a girl.

I can’t think of any Halloween costumes of mine that were particularly memorable. However, my brother had a white monk robe kind of thing (I’m not sure how to describe it. It was a thing with a hood that was probably ankle length originally) Anyway, that served a number of purposes over the years. I think he may have been a sheet of paper one year and an albino lizard another. I want to say parts of his cockroach costume got reused also, but I can’t remember what that one turned into.

  6. I hear what sounds like a money counter flipping bills in the background of the last quarter of the show. Have you three started one of those highly lucrative, hot and fashionable Crystal Meth Manufacturing Emporiums?

  7. As with Computer King, I thought Luke had struck it rich. I then thought back and I -think- that is a sewing machine.

  8. Carrie, I absolutely love “Pregnancy is Strange”, especially the baby commentary in the background.

I think my most memorable Halloween costume pre-adulthood would be from ’89, when I dressed as the Jack Nicholson incarnation of the Joker. As an adult, my favorites are split between dressing as Ash from Army of Darkness (which I believe Luke saw me in at a Springfield, IL convention) and my Eddie costume, which I got to revive this year for a Rocky Horror showing on Halloween weekend. I recall miscalculating a bit on the Ash costume, in the sense that the chainsaw hand wasn’t very easy to remove, and I didn’t realize how awkward it would be for a right-handed person to render that hand essentially useless for an entire evening.

  9. @Squirrel Girl–haven’t you ever had the opportunity to dress up as your namesake for Halloween?

  10. Is that a money counting machine I hear in the background during the costume discussion? The Bad Rapport meth lab must be making bank.

Luke, The Scope will gladly play your promo gratis. I’m in need of bits to play during our first break.

  11. Hey Luke and Carrie, hows it going?
Well first things first, Luke Alpha for sure. also Luke please don’t preforming at the costume show at Gen Con. I saw you for the first time there, you were doing the bender roboto song, that’s when i became a fan and the real reason i go to the show. I am sad that i have not been able to go to gen con in a like 2 or even 3 years. I wish i knew of some Cons closer to Milwaukee that i could got to.
Now to you Carrie, Congratulations on the boy, i was going to say you should call him stormageddon. Love the song “Pregnancy is Strange” plan on getting some of your cd’s.

My favorite costume was my Captain Mal costume. it was great then it got ripped to pieces in the crash, some my the crash and other my medical works.
Well hope you guys are all well, Hello to Josh and Sarah as well.
