It’s the last day of 2014, so Luke Ski & Carrie Dahlby wrap up the year by telling us what they’ve been up to this holiday season, featuring Carrie’s entrance into the Audubon Society, Alex’s adorable Christmas morning squee captured on audio, and Luke completely forgetting Jennifer Lawrence’s name.
The comedy tracks this time around are by The Muppets, Peter Lind Hayes & Mary Healy, the great Luke Ski, Insane Ian featuring My Parents Favorite Music, Homer & Jethro, Steve Goodie, Devo Spice featuring Power Salad, Mitch Miller, Daffy Dave, Plucky Duck, The Colbert Report, & Shock Treatment.
So be kind to your web footed friends, for a duck may be somebody’s mother. Be kind to the denizens of the swamp, where the weather is very, very damp. Now you may think that this is the end. Well, it is.

Since comments were requested, let me pass along some notes I jotted down while I listened to the podcast…
* Carrie mentioned that she recently switched to the Podcast Addict app. I have done exactly the same in the past month or so and have really been enjoying it. In my opinion, it makes listening to podcasts much more convenient, and has helped me catch up to everything I have been running behind on.
* When y’all played the Muppets’ version of Stars And Stripes Forever, I found myself thinking about how I can’t hear that song now without hearing Plucky Duck singing “Be kind to your web-footed friends.” And then Luke sang it while playing the song with Alex… and then you blew my mind by revealing what I thought was a fun, throw-away bit from a Tiny Toons episode actually had a rich and varied history. Thanks for introducing me to the full “Crazy Mixed-Up Song” and its storied 60-year history.
* Congratulation to Luke about the drawing tablet! This also reminded me that I keep meaning to bring up that when I was attending the the last Supercomputing Conference, one of the most prized bits of swag was from one vendor that had caricature artists drawing on similar tablets and then printing out the finished product on photo paper. The whole following week, the conference center was filled with folks using them as luggage tags or wearing them on their lanyards.
* Sara’s belly dance routine sounds amazing. AMAZING!
* And finally, gigantic congratulations to both Carrie & Luke on kicking butt and taking names in the Doctor Demento Top-25 Countdown. You both really deserve it. Keep up the good work!
(No need to read this one on the air.)
@onib – I was also at SC and got a caricature drawn at the Scality booth (first time I’ve ever done that). Sounds like we have some common interests and should get together at SC15.
