Episode #059 – Kyle And Luke Talk About Cartoons, While Carrie Has A Baby

Yesterday, which was Leap Year Day 2012, at 1:55 pm Carrie Dahlby gave birth to Alexander David Rasey, 8 lbs 4 oz, 21 inches long. He has blonde hair & greenish/brownish eyes, and Carrie says he looks just like his Daddy, Josh Rasey. Much congratulations and hugs to both of them.

This podcast starts with a recording with Carrie, Josh, and Ken done on Carrie’s birthday at Potbelly. It then time jumps to yesterday when I recorded an impromptu rest-of-the-podcast with special guest TV’s Kyle. This may come as a shock to you, but in this episode, Kyle and Luke talk about cartoons. Specifically, Kyle’s current and past experiences in the field of television animation production, and they rundown all the big cartoon movies of 2011. Also, with Leap Day 2012 being the 20th Anniversary of “Ray TV”, Luke talks about that for, like, an hour, which feels like another freakin’ Leap Year itself. Click here to watch the 2-minute video referenced in that discussion.  We also have News of the Stupid, and music by Scooter Picnic, Flat 29, and Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake. Hope to see all of you who aren’t having babies at MarsCon 2012.

  1. This podcast has been out for more than 24 hours (at the time of this post). Why can’t I vote for “I’ve Got A T-Rex (Beatbox Mix)” on the Dementia Top 20 already?!

  2. I would watch the hell out of a live-action “Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors” film — even if it starred Shia LeBeouf. I don’t consider The Beef a bad actor; he just happens to appear in what I consider to be bad films.

Also: yes, I was being complimentary when I said you “shit out artwork”. It was a comment on your speed, not your quality.

  3. I don’t care for Cars; the vehicles or the Pixar movie. It’s not a political thing though, I just have no interest; I’ve never taken lessons, never driven, never owned a car. I’m a long time supporter of public transportation. Of course I have no love for NASCAR either but then again I’m not really a sports guy in general anymore. I was when I was younger, but my interests went off in a different direction in my early 20s.

  4. Once again, congratulations Carrie and Josh.

Kyle asked about there being enough stuff for people to collect Phantom of the Paradise.
Strangely enough, there is… check out http://www.phantomoftheparadise.ca . The sound track went Gold in Canada, mostly from Winnipeg-ers (who have an unusual fascination with the film). I couldn’t tell you why – I’ve never seen it.

  5. Because Phantom of the Paradise is awesome, and not just because it was actually the first (and the best IMO) attempt to do a musical adaptation of the original Phantom of the Opera story, predating Andrew Lloyd Webber’s by something like 10 years if I remember right. The real question is, how is it I can love that movie so much yet not own the DVD.

  6. Arkle, I have no interest in being an old man and floating my house away with baloons, but I liked Up anyway. 😉
