Episode #101 – Healthy As A Healthy Horse

It’s been a whole 2 months since Luke & Carrie sat down at Apollo Grill to talk about what they have been up to lately. There’s so much to discuss that we decided to put off our recap of MarsCon 2014 and Luke’s FAWM album until our next episode. We recorded 3 segments, which once I started editing this episode made more sense to present in our old episode format. So this one’s just over 2 hours, but it has a lot of great music by the likes of the great Luke Ski, T.J. Miller with various guests, Mike Phirman, Thomas The Tank Engine, Carrie Dahlby featuring Wyngarde, Chris Hardwick & Paul Williams, Tegan & Sara featuring the Lonely Island, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake, and the Muppets as we review their latest theatrical feature film, “Muppets Most Wanted”.

Alex makes an appearance in our opening segment, and we talk about his 2nd birthday party and his disdain for people who change the lyrics to songs he likes. Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll come around on that issue before long. Be sure to leave us comments for this episode, as well as for Episode 100, which at the time I’m writing this only had ONE comment. WTF, y’all? So please leave us comments here, at Episode #100’s page, and on our phone hotline 916-LUKE-SKI, goddammit.

Episode length: 2:09:33

  1. I wonder how much work it would be to get YouTube to put a link to your BandCamp site on videos of your songs.

  2. Since I didn’t say so in my comment from last episode, CONGRATULATIONS! Doing anything 100 times is impressive, but recording and mixing audio and video podcasts that would take over 9 days to listen and watch if they were all queued up to play one after another might be bordering on certifiable. But, at least it’s the good kind of certifiable. Thank you both for sharing your thoughts, opinions, and a pretty good chunk of your lives with us. I mean it, thank you.

Also, as a side note, since you played “Everything Is Awesome” from the amazing Lego Movie, I wanted to make sure people were aware of Kirby Krackle’s geekier version which is available as a free download (https://kirbykrackle.bandcamp.com/track/everything-is-awesome-nerd-rock-version).

  3. I’m kind of surprised Carrie didn’t recognize Russel Tovey. He played an important role in the Doctor Who Christmas episode* Voyage of the Damned. He was Alonso in the episode; the lone survivor on the bridge, the guy who gave the 10th Doctor the chance to say “Allon’sy Alonso!” Of course I’ve not seen the new Muppet Movie yet (the only movie I’ve seen in theaters so far this year was Evangelion 3.33, and I kind of got guilted into that one since to say I’m not an Evangelion fan would be an understatement FUCK YOU SHINJI) so maybe his scene was really quick. If I get to see it anytime soon I’ll keep an eye out. Anyway, congrats on getting super close to your IndieGoGo goal Carrie, congrats to Alex for successful potty training, and of course, FUCK YOU SHINJI!**

    * Can anyone explain to me why, when I misspelled “episode” initially auto-correct tried to turn it into “epsilon?”
** Actually, I ended up not hating Eva 3.33, much to my shock and amazement. Shinji was even somewhat sympathetic in it. Still annoying, but then he is a 14 year old boy who has the fate of what left of humanity dropped on his shoulders by his asshole father so it’s not entirely unjustified.

  4. I have a five minute commute to work nowadays, so it takes a good deal longer to listen to a podcast all the way through. Please forgive my delayed response:
Thank you for wishing me a Happy Birthday! 🙂 !!!!!!
And it’s totally mutual — I look forward to when I get to see Alex again too.
Great show!!! Peace n cookies, you two.
